What runs on every visit

Cloudflare hosts, delivers, and protects ReStoryGame.com. Each request therefore passes through Cloudflare, which may process the IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser and network details, referrer, approximate location, and security signals needed to deliver the page, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.

Cloudflare Web Analytics also loads its performance beacon from static.cloudflareinsights.com and sends real-user performance measurements to this site's /cdn-cgi/rum endpoint. Cloudflare describes this service as cookieless: it does not use cookies or localStorage to recognize visitors and does not track people across customer sites.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 loads in advanced consent mode for measurement ID G-K53NG1RV1V. Analytics storage is denied by default, so before you select Allow analytics the tag sends limited cookieless page measurements without creating GA cookies. If you allow analytics, first-party cookies and pseudonymous client and session identifiers are enabled. Measurements can include the page path and title, referrer, browser and device characteristics, language, screen size, and approximate location derived from the IP address. Query strings are removed from the page URL, and we do not send names, email addresses, message contents, search text, or game account details to Google Analytics.

After you allow analytics, the site can also send a small set of task events: whether a guide answered the question, a fixed reason button when it did not, a no-results state, a palette or device record opened, and achievement or story-checklist actions. Event values use page IDs, tool names, fixed categories, and fixed action labels. Typed searches, checklist contents as a whole, free text, and URL query strings are not sent.

Google says GA4 uses an IP address at collection time for routing and approximate location, then discards the raw address before it is logged. Our property has Google Signals disabled and is not linked to Google Ads. We use these reports to understand guide use, not to serve personalized advertising.

Cookies and local storage

• restory.analytics-consent is a first-party localStorage preference containing granted or denied. It remains until you change the choice, clear site data, or use browser controls.
• restory.achievement-progress.v1 and restory.story-choice-progress.v1 store the checklist IDs you mark complete. They stay in this browser, are not uploaded, and can be erased with the tracker's clear button or your browser controls.
• _ga and _ga_K53NG1RV1V are first-party Google Analytics cookies created only after consent. They distinguish a browser and preserve session state. This site configures them to expire no later than 90 days after activity.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies if a challenge or protective feature is triggered.

This site has no account system and does not currently load advertising scripts or advertising cookies.

Embedded videos and external links

Video thumbnails are hosted on ReStoryGame.com. A YouTube player is requested from youtube-nocookie.com only after you choose to play a video. From that point, YouTube receives the network request and may process the IP address, browser data, playback activity, cookies, or local storage under Google's privacy terms. Simply loading a page does not request the YouTube player.

Links to Steam, Reddit, YouTube, and other sources do not contact those services until you follow the link. Their own privacy terms apply after you leave this site.

Information you provide

There is no contact form. If you email us, your mail provider sends the address, message, and attachments you choose to include through Cloudflare Email Routing to the site operator's mailbox provider. Cloudflare and that mailbox provider therefore process the message in transit and for delivery under their own terms. We use it to reply, review corrections, and investigate documented game issues. Do not send passwords, payment information, or sensitive personal data.

Retention and sharing

The GA4 property is configured to retain user-level and event-level data for two months; Google may retain aggregated reporting separately. Your analytics choice remains in localStorage until you change or clear it. Editorial emails are kept only while useful for the conversation, a correction record, security, or a legal obligation.

We do not sell personal information. Data goes only to the providers described above when needed to run the site, obtain limited cookieless page measurements, provide consented cookie-based analytics, respond to abuse, or comply with law.

Your choices

Use Analytics choices in the footer at any time. Choosing No thanks denies analytics storage and deletes the Google Analytics cookies that this site can access. Limited cookieless page measurements continue, but cookie-based identifiers and optional analytics storage remain disabled. This does not delete measurements already received by Google; contact us if you have a deletion request. You can also clear cookies and local storage in your browser.
