An unfinished story repair can look like a cleaning problem
In the Steam “Dirty / Smelly” discussion, the original poster said the bad reviews stopped after buying the license needed to finish a pending main-story repair. Another player attributed the reviews to a rival-related story event. Those are community explanations, not a complete ratings formula.
Check accepted customer work, stored boxes and mail before buying more decorations. A Reddit player with a similar symptom described a misplaced Eggotchi near the lamp; another had no new customers despite tidying and decorating. The shared symptom does not establish a single cause.
What the developer says about Zen
A developer reply in the same Steam thread recommends increasing Zen with decorations to improve reviews. That supports decorations as a shop-management option. It does not prove that spending on decorations will clear a blocked quest.
Keep enough money for the parts and licenses needed by your active repairs. If your concern is ordinary ratings and the story is moving, consider the developer’s Zen advice. If no story customers arrive, work through the progression checklist first.
The three-star bug has a specific story point
The August 22 developer reply associates a three-star rating after the rock musician’s guitar with a progression fault addressed in 1.0.015. Compare your last story job with that case and update before testing again.
The developer cautioned that some affected pre-1.0.013 saves might remain blocked. If that matches your run, keep the save and report it. A continuing three-star rating elsewhere does not, by itself, diagnose this particular bug.
