The achievement settles the basic question
Early dialogue warns you about staying open at night, which made players wonder whether the shop would be punished. Steam's official global achievement list gives a direct mechanical answer: "Akiba never sleeps!" unlocks when you do not end the day for seven days in a row.
So the game is built to allow extended open time. The warning may still matter to the story or atmosphere, but staying open is not an unsupported exploit if an achievement asks you to do it.
Why you may still end a day
Launch-build footage shows the player ending days between batches of repairs, deliveries, and character visits. That suggests some events are tied to day transitions, although the footage is not a controlled test.
Stay open when you have useful work in front of you or when you are chasing the achievement. End the day when the shop has stalled and you are waiting for the next set of time-based activity. We are still checking whether fatigue, bills, or dialogue choices create any separate penalty.
Quick answers
Will the police punish you for staying open?
No public source confirms a police punishment. The official achievement proves the game permits seven consecutive days without ending the day.
