Use a mouse-style Steam Input layout
In the playtest, the default controller layout could move the cursor, click, and cancel, but a Steam Deck player found no equivalent for right click. That blocked object rotation during teardown and cleaning.
The working community suggestion is to switch to Mouse + Keyboard or Mouse Only in Steam Input. Those layouts map right click to the left trigger; the right stick can then rotate the object while the trigger is held.
- Open the Steam controller settings for ReStory.
- Change the current template to Mouse + Keyboard or Mouse Only.
- Confirm that left trigger is mapped to right mouse click.
- Hold left trigger and use the right stick to rotate the part.
What this workaround does not prove
The source player said the playtest otherwise ran smoothly, but that is one old hardware report, not a verified performance rating for the release build. Other forum posts mention low frame rates, so treat performance separately from the missing rotation binding.
This page will change after a clean release-build controller test or an official preset. Until then, the Steam Input mapping is a historical workaround, not a current compatibility verdict.
Quick answers
Does ReStory work on Steam Deck?
A playtest user reported smooth gameplay but lacked an obvious rotation control. Release-build performance and the current preset remain unverified.
